Why I’m Running

January 12, 2020

Dear Fellow Americans in Pennsylvania’s Fourth Congressional District,

I’m running for Congress because we need to preserve our country. For my entire life, even without realizing it, I have been preparing for such a time as this and am now ready to work as Your Representative.

Politics is dirty business. Because of this, good people often stay on the sidelines – not fully engaging the system, oftentimes, waiting for someone else to fix it. As such, a vacuum has been created in our society that is being filled by some of the most foolish policies that do nothing to secure our borders, lower our taxes, get us out of endless wars, gives us jobs, or create a culture that nurtures up the next generation. Edmund Burke once said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men [and women] do nothing.” I am running for Congress because I believe it’s time for “good” people to once more fill this void.

My life’s journey represents all that is good about this country. I grew up on a pig farm in southern Alabama in a one stop-sign town in a restful and rustic corner of the world. I never knew just how impoverished we were until I grew up. When my grandmother would ask me to help her in the garden, I thought she just wanted to spend quality time with me. I never knew it was for our survival. If we ever wanted greens or beans on our plate, it had to come from the effort of our own two hands.

In addition to being raised as what many would consider “disadvantaged,” I’ll add one more stumbling block to success: I’m the by-product of a rape.

Yet despite my beginnings, I was the first in my family to complete college. I spent ten years in the Armed Forces Reserves, where I was accepted into Officer Candidacy School. I’ve worked in the financial industry, corporate America and as an adjunct professor of Corporate Finance. For almost four years, I have been a regularly featured guest on Fox News. I am the recent author of the book Nothing to Lose, Everything to Gain: Being Black and Conservative in America. And now, I am running for Congress.

My story only takes place in America. I represent the American Dream and though the details of my life’s story vary somewhat from your story; my challenges closely resemble many who live in Montgomery County. We have faced formidable odds, and we have challenges yet to overcome, but with determination we have opportunities to overcome them.

I am running for Congress because as a wife, mother, veteran, and American, I want to secure and preserve my country for the next generation.

I am running for Congress because we can do better than the abject policy failures Madeleine Dean and the Democrat Party force upon us. I want to join with other Republicans, take back Congress, Fire Nancy Pelosi and restore common sense and sanity to Washington D.C.

I am running for Congress because I support our President, who is working to make our Families & Communities safe; grow our Economy; make quality Healthcare available and affordable; protect and sustain our Environment; and create the best and diverse Education System in the world.

I am running for Congress because my life is a clear example of what is right with America. The testimony of my life and my campaign will bring incredible energy to this campaign and we will increase our voter registration, increase voter turnout and WIN the 4th Congressional District

I invite you to join me in my effort to bring true change—positive change—to our District. I am eager to hit the campaign trail, meet with everyone in the 4th, to listen and learn about your concerns and solutions for the problems and opportunities before us.

Thank you for your support. Let’s WIN this together.

Joyfully,

Kathy Barnette
